My husband was busy working on installing our new whirlpool tub so he wasn't paying any attention to what the girls were doing. When I left Lily she was toting around Jessica's dance bag and her baby doll, a current passion. I had also turned on the disney channel to keep her occupied. When I returned she was passed out on the couch face down and away from my view - her nap time was way over due. I didn't want to bother her so I checked in and left. My husband told me later that she had gotten into some lipstick and he left it because he didn't want to wake her up. I hadn't seen the lipstick and imagined a few lines on her face - not really a big deal, right? Right.
I went back in the office curious now about the lipstick and where she could have gotten it from. She sat up and I noticed that her face was blocked in red from chin to hairline and covering her ear. It was all over her hands, the couch she was laying on, the carpet below was also colored a bright red. Jessica's Christmas present, a "furreal" cat was also decorated a bit on his fur. I quickly grabbed up Lily and took her to the tub thinking, "This is what happens when I leave my husband to watch the kids!"
It took me the better part of 30 minutes to scrub the lipstick off of Lily's body parts and it left a nice pink ring around the tub. I couldn't help by think of Cat in the Hat - yep, the same ring. Now at least I know where they got the idea from. The carpet took me an hour to scrub and it still has a light pink hue in our brand new light beige carpet. Seriously the carpet is like 2 months old. As I was cleaning the carpet I noticed the dance bag and remembered the red lipstick that Jess and I had put in there for a performance last month just in case she needed to reapply before her number. I had completely forgotten it was there. If I had my choice of crayola markers or lipstick to find smeared across my child and furniture - I'd choose the markers. They are water soluable and come off much quicker than the almost impossible to remove lipstick.
Of course my husband took no responsibility for the incident claiming I shouldn't have left her alone to go talk on the phone. He's probably right. He can't be trusted to be a mother. He is the fix it man. Fix the door, tub, walls, light switches, electrical wires, cables that need rewiring, etc. His focus is ONE track. On whatever he is working on at the moment. I should have known better than to leave a curious, highly mischievious almost 2 year old in his care. Oh well, life is too short to remain upset. And it's kind of hard when you've got that cute little grin and laugh staring up at you from the best hugger ever.

so... i dont understand? what is going on with the bathroom?
and... um... lipstick... no-ones fault... it is just one of those things.
my friends have a policy in their house - if you left it out than you clean it up... they are a family of six - with 2 toddlers... so messes are a absolute constant... if the babies get a hold of eggs - milk - ketchup - i promise they are happily smearing it into the carpet and laughing the whole time...
they are the smartypants on my page
Well, it wasn't exactly left out. She just is a genious at finding all things hidden and presumed out of reach.
Jhonny is in the process of installing a new whirlpool tub. He also has to replace the tile on the walls since he ripped out the old one.
