Okay, okay I know it's not a boy now. But when I agreed to let the cat come home with Jhonny from the neighbor's house, I was told it was a boy cat. I was hesitantly okay with this because we really didn't have the money to go get a girl cat fixed. Then in early February Jhonny announced that our boy cat was pregnant. Since I've never gotten close enough to tell whether or not it was really a boy cat, I was a little surprised. When I went to check for myself she scratched me. I don't think this cat loves me as much as she loves Jessica and Jhonny. I'm the one always yelling for someone to get her out of my house!
Well, we've been watching her and after looking up on the internet the gestation period I knew it would probably happen sometime this month. I was really hoping it wouldn't take place while we were away on vacation and so I was relieved to come home to a fat cat.
Jhonny left early Tuesday morning for a work related trip and ended up spending the night down near Victoria. So he wasn't around to help me out during the whole event. I really hope this isn't a premonition for when I'm giving birth to his son.
The cat looked more than plump yesterday and I was sure she was miserable. At least as miserable as I feel. Then at sometime around 7:15pm, Jessica went outside to check on her because she was in the box we put out for her to have the kittens in. She came back with a delighted look on her face and announced the cat was having the kittens and she saw at least two of them.
I called my friend who is a vet tech for a little advice and waited for the cat to do her thing and to be done. Sometime before ten pm I found her nursing 5 kittens. I carefully moved her box into the garage so the stray males wouldn't bother her during the night. I've chased one away a couple of time already. Jessica was quite happy this morning to see the new little kitties.
FIVE! Oh my. Three are white and two look orange like her or maybe brown. It's hard to tell. They're a little scrawny. So our boy cat is not a boy after all and now we've 6 cats. At least until we can give them away. I know I won't have any luck trying at church since everyone at church already owns multiple cats.
Lucky me.
